Instagram famous design initiative the Basket Club teamed up with Japanese wood furniture brand Karimoku to celebrate their new Tokyo showroom with a special exhibition.

They asked me to design something relating to storage. A hook seemed like a good fit and I started bending and binding willow twigs in the shape of hooks. Willow bends easily but will break at some point and finding the right balance between hook like function without breaking the twig led to a series of shapes that had a surprisingly consistent form language.

Three different hooks produced by Esme Hofmann are for sale.
